Antique | The Bugtong Bato Falls

The Bugtong Bato Falls and The Famous Kawa Hot Bath
Tibiao, Antique

Panay has lots of amazing places to visit... It is home to stunning white beaches, caves, falls, etc... A triangular island divided into 4 provinces, a haven destination indeed.

Bugtong Bato Falls is located in the Municipality of Tibiao, Province of Antique.  a 7-tier falls but only 3 of them are passable to many, 30-minute trek from the registration site will make you sweat so don't forget to bring a liter of water with you.

How to get there!

From Caticlan, I rode a bus bound to San Jose de Buenavista but locals call it Antique. The bus cost Php 100 non-airconditioned bus and travel time is almost 2 hours, just tell the conductor to drop you off at Brgy.Importante and he knows it already.

Stunning view of Panay Mountains while on a Bus bound to Brgy. Importante

When you get off the bus, habal-habal are waiting tourists just in the corner going to Brgy Tuno, they might be asking you on where to go but most likely they knew it already.

Welcome Signage at Brgy Importante located just on a Highway

Habal-habal (capacity up to 2 passengers) cost 70 pesos per use and not per person so if you travel with someone with you, that's much cheaper as you're going to divide it by two. Heading to Brgy Tuno is so refreshing as you'll gonna see stunning mountains and a river, halfway going there is a registration site where you need to pay for an Environmental fee of 50 pesos (they will give you a receipt), I was a bit lucky that time because of my habal-habal driver took me to the back of that site where you can see a picturesque view of mountains, a mountain range of Antique with no additional fee lol, the site is also home to a Zipline from mountain to mountain.

20 minutes after and we decided to leave the site. Brgy Tuno is a not populated place, an agricultural land per se. I alighted just a few walks away from another registration site, a site where you can get a Tour Guide going to the falls Php 150 per tour guide (again, cheaper if you have someone with you), personnel will going to ask you of the Environmental Receipt and just present it there and that's it you're now ready to witness the 7-tier falls.

Enjoying the beauty of the river

Time to start the trek and be stunned by these falls. Water during summer is not that as fabulous as it should be due being affected by extreme heat, best season to visit is Rainy season or start from July onwards.

After a short trek, time to get wet again but this time it's hot water. Soaked up in a hot kawa with flame underneath felt so insane. There are few houses there that offer this one-of-a-kind experience, a total relaxing way to beat tiredness just for 250 pesos and you can cut the price down just master your haggling skills.

The Ruins
Talisay City, Negros Occidental

"The Ruins of the mansion of Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson was built in loving memory of his deceased wife Maria Braga after her death in 1911.
The mansion, of Italianate architecture was designed to be a monument of their enduring love affair.
In the eve of World War II in 1942, the mansion was torched by the guerrilla fighters and was burning for 3 days leaving behind of a glorious past." -History Told

An undying love for his babe was the reason behind this beautiful mansion, depicting through every details of the structure.  A romantic place that serves as tourist destination in the Province of Negros Occidental.

How to get there!

The Ruins was my Day-4 in my Itinerary after Iloilo. Getting there is not a hassle to everyone who wish to visit the place, from Bacolod City (Public Plaza), ride a jeepney  bound to Bata (Jeepney Signage is Bata - Libertad) tell the driver to drop you off at the street going to The Ruins. Fare is only 7 pesos (minimum fare that's as of April 2016). A signboard "This Way Going to The Ruins" is visible, tricycles are in line waiting for passengers, tell the driver that you're going to The Ruins, 20 pesos each and trike can accommodate up to 5 passengers, if you're tired of waiting for some passengers, you may rent the tricycle instead going there alone for 50 pesos one way. Ask the driver to wait for you at The Ruins because there are no tricycles available there.

I was amazed by this tree, take a look at it... This is just located less than a hundred meters from The Ruins Entrance.

Guimaras | Guisi Lighthouse

GUISI Lighthouse
Faro de Punta Luzaran
Nueva Valencia, Guimaras

Guisi Lighthouse is located in an island province of Guimaras and among the smallest provinces in the Philippines. It has 5 municipalities and its capital is Jordan. Guimaras, formerly known as Himal-us, was a Sub-province of Iloilo until it was made an independent province on May 22, 1992.

It was such a great experience to visit this Second Oldest Lighthouse in the Philippines, lighted up for the first time in 1894.

Short History

In 1857, the general Plan for fighting of Maritime Coasts in the Philippine Archipelago was drafted and implemented by Corps of Engineers for Roads, Canals and Ports.
The structure is made of prefabricated metals from France, the "Tisa" from Portugal and the cement from England.
This 18th century Spanish ruin is very visible during night time to guide mariners passing through Guimaras Strait.

How to get there!

From Ortiz Port in Iloilo ride a ferry going to Jordan Wharf in Guimaras, a 15-minute boat ride for only 14 pesos. At Jordan Wharf go straight to waiting Shed where you need to register as tourist, no worries because there's no extra fees to be collected nor an environmental fee to be charged. From there, many will approach you but just tell them that you're planning on commuting  to Guisi.

Ride a “Nueva Valencia” jeepney (30 to 45 minutes), "I gave 50 pesos for my jeepney Fare".
Tell the driver to drop you off at the intersection going to Guisi Lighthouse.
Ride a Habal-habal (single motorcycle) to Guisi LightHouse (10 -15 minutes), usually it will ask you to pay 200 pesos but you can haggle it down to 150 pesos roundtrip but in my case, I asked manong habal-habal driver to be my tour guide, he also took me back to Jordan Wharf and only charged me for 350 pesos.

The Guimaras Island is famous for producing some of the sweetest mangoes in the world, reason why it is being called  "Mango Capital of the Philippines" from local and foreign tourists.
